Hey everyone! Paxton is now here! he was born Tuesday June 1, 2010 at 6:40. He is a little guy, only weighing in at 5 lbs. 4 oz. measuring 19" long! When we arrived at the hospital
Tuesday morning they realised that
Paxton's heart rate was dropping
dramatically during every contraction. Dr. Hall told the nurses to prep me for an emergency C-section and that he would be there within minutes. As soon as the doctor arrived they wheeled me into surgery. Five minutes later Greg said, "hey honey here is our baby." All I could say was really? Wait? They have already cut me open?- I was super drugged! So this is a really cool picture of my
C-section while they were sewing me up! No worries its the only gross one on here. Greg suggested that I don't put it on here, even though he watched the whole thing. Greg said that Paxton came out looking really purple and blue and wasn't breathing at all. It took the nurses a good few minutes to get his airway cleaned and help him start breathing.
After Kirsten returned to a room we were able to hold and snuggle him a bit. After a while he started looking really blue for lack of oxygen. The doctors realized that he had malconium in his lungs (this is when a baby has a bowel movement before birth and it is ingested into their lungs) They also tested his blood glucose levels which reported back at 14. They put him on a couple of IV's, after six they finally got one to stick. He was placed in the nursery with oxygen running into his nose. Wednesday morning he was transferred to a C-PAT that gives him oxygen but also opens up his lungs.Wednesday night he was only using it at 26%.
Thursday morning the doctors removed the C-PAT and he was able to be held again by his mommy. Kirsten was not a happy camper on Wednesday since she had not been able to hold her new baby. We have a preferred nurse list and a get off your high horse list. Some of the nurses are pretty Arney. He started eating a little Thursday afternoon in order to decrease the IV's.
Kirsten Had an allergic reaction to the percaset pain pills on Tuesday night. That was after this picture was taken. Her eye-lids swelled up like a Chinese woman. Kirsten will be discharged on Friday. Paxton is taking some antibiotics, so he won't be able to come home with us until Monday or Tuesday. Those are some pretty good looking parents aren't they. Thanks everyone for your prayers and coming to visit us. We enjoyed visiting with each of you at the hospital or on the phone. We are so glad that our families and friends are so supportive.

Welcome to the newest and most perfect Boehme in the world. Already making a statement with his challenging appearance. Obviously he will keep you buys. He's one lucky little guy, beccause he has such great parents. We really must come check him out. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
